Imagine gliding effortlessly through crystal-clear water, and then, a shadow passes overhead. Not just any shadow, but the graceful form of a majestic manta ray, its massive wingspan a breathtaking spectacle. This isn't a dream—it's Manta Point, one of the most iconic dive and snorkel sites in Indonesia's Komodo National Park.
As the Komodo Island experts at BlueskyTrip, we know a thing or two about unforgettable moments. Manta Point, also known locally as Karang Makassar, is a must-see for anyone visiting this world-class destination.

While Manta Point is famous for its mantas, it's also home to an abundance of other fascinating marine life. Keep your eyes peeled for graceful sea turtles, the occasional reef shark, eagle rays, and vibrant schools of fish. Though the coral reef here isn't the main attraction, the sheer abundance of life makes the experience truly unique.
The best time to see manta rays at Manta Point is during the rainy season (November to April). The water is a bit cooler and richer in plankton, which is exactly what attracts these magnificent creatures.
However, if you're looking for the absolute best visibility for photos and clear sightseeing, the dry season (May to October) is your best bet. Komodo National Park offers fantastic experiences year-round, so no matter when you visit, there's always an adventure waiting.
Manta Point is perfect for both snorkelers and divers. While snorkeling is possible, the experience is truly unparalleled for certified divers.
The site has strong and unpredictable currents, so always listen to your guide, and remember the rule of thumb for diving here: go with the flow!
